Vancouver – Pivot Legal Society is demanding that the City of Vancouver place a moratorium on tickets given to people sleeping outside in light of newly released shelter statistics that say homeless individuals, on over 40,000 separate occasions, were refused access to shelters in Metro Vancouver over a nine month period. Vancouver – In a landmark ruling released yesterday, the B.C. Supreme Court ruled that Insite, North America’s first safe injection site, is protected by the Canadian Constitution. In delivering its ruling, the court struck down those sections of the Canadian Drugs and Substances Act which prohibit the possession and handling of illegal narcotics within Insite.
