UNITED NATIVE NATIONS
“Working Together for our Children”
110 – 425 Carrall Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6B 6E3
United Native Nations (UNN) working in partnership with Knowledgeable Aboriginal Youth Association (KAYA), will be hosting five Provincial Urban Aboriginal Youth Governance meetings in five regions throughout the province over the next three months, Victoria, Kamloops, Prince George, Prince Rupert and Vancouver.
UNN is looking to invite urban Aboriginal youth from these regions and surrounding areas who, want to discuss what the creation of regional/provincial urban Aboriginal youth governance roundtables would look like. These meetings will be the foundation for creating a youth driven provincial urban Aboriginal youth political roundtable that will be comprised of peer elected representatives from each of the regions. These roundtable committees will give input on how to enable urban Aboriginal youth governance within the province giving voice to urban Aboriginal youth concerns, issues, ideas and solutions with communities and government.
These meetings will be held to support already existing youth councils and processes and to work towards the creation of a Provincial Urban Aboriginal Youth Political Roundtable to help increase urban Aboriginal youth voice.
The Urban Aboriginal Youth Governance Committee meeting are scheduled to be held in:
• Victoria Jan 26 – 28, 2007
• Prince Rupert March 2-4, 2007
